Spinner.com and MTV.com crowned Jay-Z as “Artist of The 2000’s” and “Man of The Year”.
“Our artists of the decade made great music, sure. Not one-and-done, either — they knew how to repeat. Just as important, they staked their claims in the grand parade of popular culture. From Groban to Gaga, the 50 recording artists we would’ve had to invent if they didn’t exist. Jigga started the decade with the classic ‘Blueprint’ album, released on Sept. 11 2001, and finished it in an ‘Empire State of Mind.’ In between he held his “retirement party” at Madison Square Garden. Only Sinatra before him could take such a bite out of the Big Apple.” -Spinner.com
“Jay-Z talked about his “Takeover” way back in 2001 on the very first Blueprint album. Eight years later, Young Hov is still taking charge, running the Billboard charts with a #1 song and album, running circles around other hip-hop lyricists with his wordplay and running whatever town his tour hits that night. ” MTV.com

Props to you Jay-Z, grew up with your music back home in Yonkers. I was at a wedding in San Francisco back in November. At the reception I was in such amazement, and psyched to hear your “Empire State of Mind”, and to see all the San Francisco Naitives sing and dance to it, I knew it would sweep America off their feet. Made me so proud to be from NYC, and of course Proud to be one of your many fans. The Blue print 3 is sick, every cut is hot. Keep up the talent, Because you “Run the Map”.
