“Jay-Z is the greatest rapper alive. Anyone who was in attendance at his sold-out Key Arena concert Saturday night can attest to that fact. Hova, Young Hov, Jigga, Hovito, whatever you call him Shawn Carter is on top of the rap game and there were no signs of him stepping down any time soon during his career-spanning two-hour show.”

Jay-Z Will Join Fellow Grammy Award Winners Rihanna And Green Day In The Star-Studded Special

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.—December 21, 2009—Multi-platinum selling artist JAY-Z is set to perform with international superstar Rihanna during the countdown to 2010 on “NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly.” The dynamic duo will once again team up on their Grammy Award winning song “Umbrella” giving their fans a New Year’s to remember. They will also be performing “Run This Town,” which is up for two Grammy Awards this year. This star studded musical line-up of Rihanna, JAY-Z and rock band Green Day has made NBC the only place to celebrate New Year’s Eve.‬ ‪

In addition to JAY-Z’s New Year’s Eve performance, fans will be treated to the first video of the decade with the exclusive world premiere of his highly anticipated music video, “On To The Next One,” from The Blueprint 3 album. JAY-Z has won several Grammy Awards and currently holds the record for the most number ones albums by a solo artist on the Billboard 200. ‬ ‪

The two-hour special will air live on Thursday, December 31, beginning in primetime from 10-11 p.m. (ET), and continuing at 11:30 PM (ET) with the countdown to 2010 and the first performances of the New Year. “NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” will broadcast in high definition from the middle of the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve destination, Times Square in New York City.

“The real star of any New Year’s Eve show is New York City and JAY-Z is New York,” said Daly. “Green Day and Rihanna were already an impressive line-up and now with the addition of JAY-Z, it’s our most exciting line-up yet.”

In 2008, 8.6 million viewers tuned in to watch “NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly.” This special, which premiered in 2004, delivered its fourth straight year of gains scoring its biggest ratings results to date.

“NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” is executive-produced by Daly (”Last Call with Carson Daly”) and David Friedman (”Last Call with Carson Daly”) through Universal Media Studios. Guy Oseary (”Last Call with Carson Daly”) is co-executive producer.

Jay-Z: “Artist of The 2000’s” and “Man of The Year”

Friday, December 18th, 2009

jayz

Spinner.com and MTV.com crowned Jay-Z as “Artist of The 2000’s” and “Man of The Year”.

“Our artists of the decade made great music, sure. Not one-and-done, either — they knew how to repeat. Just as important, they staked their claims in the grand parade of popular culture. From Groban to Gaga, the 50 recording artists we would’ve had to invent if they didn’t exist. Jigga started the decade with the classic ‘Blueprint’ album, released on Sept. 11 2001, and finished it in an ‘Empire State of Mind.’ In between he held his “retirement party” at Madison Square Garden. Only Sinatra before him could take such a bite out of the Big Apple.” -Spinner.com

“Jay-Z talked about his “Takeover” way back in 2001 on the very first Blueprint album. Eight years later, Young Hov is still taking charge, running the Billboard charts with a #1 song and album, running circles around other hip-hop lyricists with his wordplay and running whatever town his tour hits that night. ” MTV.com

Seattle Post Intelligencer (KeyArena Review), October 19, 2009

“In a performance that had the feel of a stadium show, thanks to the scope of the production and the magnitude of the star on stage, Jay-Z did something remarkable during his encore Friday night. Even more remarkable than the tight, full-band renditions of stunners like “Big Pimpin’” and “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” and more attention-getting than his flashy New York City skyline backdrop. He made individual members of the audience feel that they were as important as him, an entertainer with 11 No. 1 albums and an entrepreneur reportedly worth $150 million.” The Wilkes-Barre Times Leader (Penn State Review), October 14, 2009

The current North American tour, a mix of 26 colleges and arenas, has featured sold out dates including Pennsylvania State’s Bryce Center, UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, Northern Kentucky University’s Bank of Kentucky, Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center, and the University of Massachusetts’ Mullins Center as well as, the KeyArena in Seattle, Kelowna British Columbia’s Prospera Place, Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center, Providence’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center and Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena.
